SPX high quality DC VFD Frequency Converter is a variable frequency speed control system directly driven by a DC bus. It does not directly draw electricity from the AC power grid, but receives electrical energy from a DC source and efficiently converts it into three-phase AC power with adjustable frequency and voltage to drive standard asynchronous or synchronous motors. Its core value lies in seamless integration into DC microgrids, renewable energy systems, energy storage applications, and industrial settings with stable DC power sources, achieving efficient, flexible energy management and precise motor control.

The SPX customized DC VFD Frequency Converter abandons the traditional rectifier unit in the front end of the frequency converter and directly communicates with the DC bus, efficiently translating stable DC power into adjustable AC power required by the motor in one step. In the era of energy structure evolving towards distributed and direct current, the native direct current generated by photovoltaic arrays, battery energy storage, fuel cells, etc. often needs to undergo multiple inefficient "AC-DC-AC" conversions when supplying AC loads. This is not only a simplification of components, but also a leap in system energy efficiency and an innovation in architecture.

By eliminating the input rectification and power factor correction circuits of traditional frequency converters, the energy conversion process is reduced, and the overall efficiency of the system is generally improved by 2% -5%, especially under partial loads where the advantages are more obvious.

Due to being powered entirely from the DC bus, the high quality DC VFD Frequency Converter operates without being affected by voltage fluctuations, frequency flicker, or harmonic pollution from the AC power grid, providing extremely pure and stable power to the motor, making it particularly suitable for precision equipment with extremely high requirements for power quality.

In DC microgrids, it is easier to selectively protect and cooperate with upstream DC circuit breakers and fuses, simplifying the system protection architecture.

Core topology:

DC input positive and negative busbars → DC support capacitor → intelligent inverter unit (based on IGBT/SiC) → filtered output of three-phase AC power to the motor. Compared to traditional frequency converters: AC input → rectifier bridge → DC bus capacitor → inverter bridge → output. 

Application
